    She hates them, hates them so much it makes her sick– that's what she tells herself as she paints their walls and sweeps their floors. She can't stand them. She's only doing this because she's out of options.

    That's what she tells herself. She's telling herself lots of things these days.

    In reality, her resolve is starting to crumble beneath them, and that makes her miserable.

    If they wanna be so– nice, so accepting, they want something in return. That's how the world works. Ebb and flow, push and pull, give and take– she's known nothing but the law of equivalent exchange, and at the very least, Casey Jones is always good on her word.
