“He is real,” the first boy argued. “I saw him!”
A small girl peered over the table at her friends. “You’re not supposed to go up the mountain. The King said so. It’s dangerous and they blocked the path.”
After finding himself in a familiar tavern, Geralt hears an unfamiliar tale.

Summary
Throwing his head back with laughter, Jaskier lost his balance on the window. He let out a tiny gasp of surprise before righting himself. He clung tightly to the stone, his heart beating a tic faster.
Geralt had looked up at the gasp, his eyes widening in panic as he let go of his brother. “Jaskier!” he bellowed, running toward the tower. Aiden and Lambert both looked up in worry.
“I’m fine, Geralt,” Jaskier assured him. “Would’ve fallen into the library anyway.” He made a small humming noise. “Though, if I were to fall out of the tower, you’d catch me, right?”
The wolf’s eyes widened again before narrowing as the gears spun in his head. “Jaskier, do not–”
“Oops!”

Summary
The bard’s first drink was nearly gone when the door to the tavern was thrown open. All conversations stopped as every patron turned to look at the newcomer. The air tensed around him, and Jaskier sighed.
Witcher. Mutant, the people around him whispered. Hatred and fear colored their voices as they cursed the man walking inside with uneven steps.
Jaskier sniffed the air tentatively and sighed in relief when the scent didn’t match the one he’d spent the past months avoiding. Instead of horse and onion, this witcher smelled of sulfur and blood.
Well. That wasn’t good.
