Magic was a property foreign to the world, but humans are nothing if not adaptable creatures, going so far as to be granted a bit of magical space to practice magic safely. Haru, a non-mage student studying folklore, finds herself in such a space, a place called Medeis, while on a study program. There she meets a mysterious but charismatic puppeteer named Humbert, and finds herself on a far more magical adventure than originally bargained for.
Well, not quite magical, since there's nothing magical about political intrigue that involved sparking war between the magical and non-magical world, but magic was involved and therefore the description.

Now the internet watches in real-time as Ilya’s Spotify playlist gets leaked (with NOTES), Shane attempts subtlety (narrator: he fails), they bicker about boy bands on late night TV, someone admits to having a ring for six months ON TWITTER, and approximately 20 different social media platforms collectively lose their goddamn minds.
Featuring: journalists having breakdowns, Reddit threads that require moderator intervention, TikTok compilations with 1.2M views, brand partnerships from Skittles, a plague of engagement speculation, and two hockey players who cannot stop being chaotic disasters on main.
The fandom was writing fic about them. Turns out reality is messier, queerer, and somehow MORE unhinged.

Summary
Shane Hollander is going to murder his agent.
And he means that literally. Because his agent is the reason he’s currently wearing a hot mic during Hockey Night in Canada. Against the Ottawa Centaurs. Against Ilya.
Ilya, who has no filter. Ilya, who thinks workplace professionalism is a hilarious suggestion for other people. Ilya, who has spent a decade perfecting the art of saying absolutely unhinged things to Shane on the ice, safe in the knowledge that nobody can hear him.
Ilya, who definitely doesn’t know about the microphone.
What follows is sixty minutes of Shane’s life flashing before his eyes while his secret boyfriend enthusiastically discusses their sex life, their broken furniture, and exactly what he wants to do to Shane after the game — all broadcast to millions of viewers.
The problem? Shane can’t get a word in edgewise to warn him.

Gale gently pulled her hand away, a slightly wicked idea forming. “You can unburden yourself with me. Or if distraction is what you would prefer…”
The invitation in his smile was clear. Her eyes drew more sharply to his.
“I’ll take the distraction.”
He traced the red curve of her lips. “Kiss me.” There’s the edge to his voice, almost a command. She immediately complied. He moulded her body to his, running his hands over every dip and curve until she was pliant as wax in his arms. In this moment, he knows she’ll let herself be soft. To the world she was never some delicate thing. Her tongue was her blade, practised as his own and a miracle on the battlefield or against his body.
He nipped at her lower lip. “Wonderful. Now, put your hands in my hair.”
She threaded her fingers through and tugged just hard enough to hurt. He answered in kind, opening her mouth so he could taste the warmth of her breath.
Her eyes were soft as ripe fruit when he pulled back and pressed a gentler kiss to the delicate point of her ear.
“Good girl.”
