Andy walked away from Miranda in Paris, but instead of giving her a “good” reference to the Mirror, Miranda decides she’s had enough of a certain perky young assistant’s impertinence. She doesn’t want to see her face around New York. She doesn’t want to ever read her by-line. In fact, she’d prefer it if she could just stop thinking about her once and for all. Especially late at night when she’s alone in bed.

Not canon compliant. Andy never left in Paris, she still works for Miranda. Andy broke up with Nate when she returned from Paris, telling him that her career choices were of a higher priority to her than following him to Boston so that he can follow his career goals. Andy is now Miranda’s First Assistant, with Emily promoted to the Art Department.
This story takes place more than a year after Paris, on Christmas Eve eve (December 23rd). Andy is in charge of Miranda’s schedule, and she knows that the twins are with their father in the Caribbean for Christmas, while Miranda is home alone. Andy is estranged from her parents, having fought with them over her break-up with Nate, and her insistence on continuing to work for Miranda, despite having been offered a job with The New York Mirror.
Both women are contemplating the prospect of facing Christmas Day on their own. They are both thinking of each other, wondering what their counterpart is doing for Christmas. Who will be the first to bend?
