Day two rolls around with no update from Blackwood, and Nancy is pissed. This stupid case is ninety percent online sleuthing, which usually isn’t too hard when she has the proper resources. Her only resource right now is the god-forsaken dinosaur game Google Chrome is trying to soothe her with while her computer desperately searches for some kind of connection.
She almost laughs. She guesses she can relate.

Nancy washes Ace's hair.
“Can I?” She has the biggest smile on her face, cheeks pink and eyes shining.
He just nods and shakes his head, fake exasperation, but Nancy can tell he’s amused. “You and my hair, I’m beginning to think you’re a little obsessed, Drew.”
But he turns around all the same and hands her the bottle, which adds to the ‘not keeping her eyes off him’ problem that neither of them actually thinks is a problem.

Summary
Post season 3 finale. All romance, intrigue, danger, and the good kind of angst that we love.
“It has been three weeks, Ace. You’ve been unconscious for three weeks,” she started, as if she was trying to explain a complicated math equation.
“You didn’t answer my question,” he growled. He’d never been upset with his platanchor before, but she was obviously hiding something. Everyone was.
“She put you in danger Ace. She almost got you killed because she was being reckless,” Bess gave as a preamble as if it would make the medicine easier to swallow.
“Bess,” he pushed.
“She went into witness protection,” Bess finally answered.
Ace’s heart clenched and the blood drained from his face.
“It is for the best,” she jumped in, trying to minimize the damage. “She volunteered.”
She’s gone. Just like his brother. All he could do was sit there. The stabbing pain in his chest, both physical and emotional, kept him frozen. They wouldn’t have put her in witness protection if the threat was gone.
“She’s still in danger.”

Ace seemed to sink into himself at her tone. “If you don’t want to go with me-”
“No! No. I-” Nancy didn’t want him to think she hated him, or didn’t trust him, or didn’t want to be around him. She had just told him a couple hours earlier that she still wanted to be his friend. She had no reason not to go with him besides how much being in a car with him made her think of the forecast and how much she’d want to hold his hand over the console. “Let’s do it.”

She plucks the piece of paper which apparently contains her own life information on it off of the pinboard, and carefully studies the few words written there.
“So, I’m Nancy Drew,” she reads out loud. “Apparently I’m a ‘problem solver’ and ‘have a good memory,’ and then it says ‘except for now’ in brackets.” She squints at the sheet of paper. “There’s something else there, but it’s been scribbled out.”
The man standing on her other side — the one with the flouncy hair and the green jacket with the white collar — leans in to look over her shoulder.
“Um, it looks like it says, ‘maybe dating Ace,’ with a question mark.”
