Down in Hell, if there was one currency worth more than souls, it was credibility. If Al went back on his word, even for a silly little bet, that was the end of his career as a dealmaker. Al liked to gamble, and for the most part it seemed he had the devil’s own luck, but it was only a matter of time before he lost something- before his happy-go-lucky attitude came back to bite him on his narrow ass. “Hey, at least it’s not your soul, right?”
“Mimzy.” Alastor grinned at her. “You’re not helping.”
“Aw, Al, you’ll be fiiine.” Mimzy stroked the side of Alastor’s head and he leaned into it, like the hopeless sap that he was, his ears flopping. A real kitten. That was the thing that most people didn’t understand about the Radio Demon. Al might be terrifying, and powerful, and all those things, but at the heart of it, he was just a silly man. Mimzy gave his shoulder a squeeze. “It’s just the TV-head guy, right? You like him. I know you do, else youdda eaten him by now.”

Vox realizes at the most inopportune moment possible that he is still quite pathetically gone for Alastor, and thus saves his life—in exchange for a deal. Alastor, on the other hand, strives to be inopportune at all possible moments, and thus learns what he is willing to sell in exchange for his own life. After all, "love" can be interpreted in so many different ways.

Alastor blinked a few times, a little enamored with the burning afterimages of Vox’s glowing features impressed onto the backs of his eyelids. “Never mind. Just a bit of a headache from how long this exercise has been dragging on.”

Alastor glared up at him, but didn’t try to deny it.
“Did you actually think you could win against me? Or were you just like a distraction or something?”
The demon didn’t answer, but his ears moved; pinned back in what could be either anger or fear.
“... did Lucifer ever tell you how he met Lilith?” Adam said. He was over Lilith, he had been for centuries, but the humiliation still stung. “She was my wife, until he went and fucked her behind my back.” He grinned, unhooking his mask and letting it drop to the ground. “What do you say, wanna help me even the score?”
Understanding dawned on Alastor's face, followed by disgust. “Go to hell.”
“Already here, babe. It’s cute how you want to be a loyal little bitch-” More loyal than Lilith was to me. “-but it doesn’t really matter what you want.”
When Adam realises that the demon he’s taken down is Lucifer’s new lover, he decides to get even for the way Lucifer humiliated him back in Eden.
