All he could do for a moment was stare in shock. He had thought Eddie had signed on with station six. How could he not tell him plans had changed? Had Eddie lied to him?
The sting of betrayal sent ice through his veins as he ogled his husband as he pulled a tight LAFD t-shirt over his head.
Or: Eddie's first day at the 118 doesn't exactly go according to plan, seeing as he didn't tell a very important someone which station he was starting at.

It was casual. Friendly, even. Ice would’ve ignored it, except he saw the reaction it caused.
Maverick froze. His whole frame locked, shoulders pulled taut like he was waiting for a hit. His hand clenched nearly white around his book. Ice’s sharp eyes caught the faint tremor at his wrist.
Now, what was that about?
Or, Iceman really, really dislikes Maverick. In fact, he would go so far as to say he despises the kid. What Goose could possibly see in the kid is beyond Ice. So why is he so damn intrigued about the kid's reaction to his own name?
