“Toph…” he began, his voice a whisper; his breath, warm and steady.
“What?”
“I’m not entirely sure,” Sokka said against her cheek, “that the way I’m feeling for you right now is normal.”
“What is it, then?” she asked breathily, not only to know what his reply would be but also because she needed to know what it was herself.
His hand curled around her jaw as he pulled back, thumb running across her bottom lip. She resisted the urge of poking her tongue out to meet the saltiness of his skin. “I don’t know, but I really want to do something about it.”
