“It was the second one,” she continues, pressing hard fingers onto the bridge of her nose. “I get to this huge fucking manor, and this lady opens the door, looking down on me like I’m dirt on the bottom of her shoe, right? Refusing to let me in, telling me nothing in there is my business, the works. You know it’s bad when they won’t let you in.”
In which Emma is a social worker, Gustave is a teacher and Alicia learns to live.

She has dirt beneath her nails and a crown of flowers set upon her head. And sat in the cold and the wet of her prison cell, a white-haired girl plots her escape.
