"No, I can handle it," Bob said. "Mom was probably just looking for money; they've tried that before."
Not long before, in fact, his father had given a surreal interview where they talked about the "weird boy who lived with the new Avengers," describing him as a troublemaker who had most likely joined the Avengers in exchange for something.
Bob hadn't left the tower for a week after that interview, afraid someone would stop him.
"Bobby, it's not that," John said. "Let's go to our room, please."
"No, take the Band-Aid off," Bob said. "It's better this way."
"Your father, he..."
"What the hell did that bastard do?" Bob said, suddenly furious. “He sent her to the hospital again? When is she going to leave him…”
“Bobby, he Is dead,” John said, holding his hand. “Your father’s gone.”
