This volume - catalogued for decades on actual plant-fiber based paper and under a wax seal with a rose embedded in it, was unearthed from the Lesser East Wing of the Imperial Palace during the routine reorganization of the Imperial Archives. The document appears to be a private diary, penned by one Kassandra Montcleir, of the D'Oisy system; by all accounts a wealthy and agriculturally dominant house in the time of the Muad'Dib. The author, once betrothed to our great Emperor before the betrayal of his House, and his rise to power, is a unique witness to this pivotal time in history. How much of what she writes is true? That, history cannot answer. But this much is certain: she is remembered.Or: I add in a shameless self-insert character, focus way too much on the worldbuilding of a made-up House in the Dune Universe, and pose the question no one cared to ask: what if Paul had a betrothed before the events of the first Dune Book? And what if she wrote a diary about it? This is that story.
