When a confrontation with a powerful magic user goes awry, Damian is cursed, robbing him of his voice. Or, communicate without a fresh bruise appearing, that is.
What begins as an inconvenience quickly spirals into something far worse, as he finds himself struggling with the mounting realization: no one has noticed. As his silence deepens, so do the rifts with his family. He’s not helped by the many more sinister theories the people around him assume because of his new temperament.

Summary
Rudo wished he stayed in bed today.
Suffering from a horrible headache Rudo manages to still get dragged out of his room and onto a mission by none other than his mentor and teacher, Zanka. The prick had a way of making him actually want to learn something, a skill truely necessary when dealing with teenagers, especially one such as Rudo.
Loading into the company van team Akuta gets to hear about supposedly smart trash beasts, unknowing of what lay in wait and unsuspecting of the grousome injury one of them was about to suffer.

"Worse." He shrugged, like he wasn't entirely sure how to explain it. Maybe he could start by listing the numerous injuries that should've marked his body. "You looked pretty dead, honestly. Like Van Bradford after he almost drowned in his own pool."
"Sure." He didn't have any idea who this Van Bradford character was, but the almost drowning part sounded close enough to what had happened.
