    Chancellor Palpatine has been removed from power (coincidentally, about the same time his head was removed from his shoulders), but there is still work to be done, and messes to clean up.

    One of those messes, according to the Jedi, is the Guard. Stone made it through his own interrogation, and now it's Fox's turn. He would be fine, Stone had no doubt about that, but there's no shame in making a contingency plan.

    (aka: fox has been going through itTM, and stone has no intention of letting him suffer alone.)

    Maybe the Jedi was right. Some things were better explained in person.

    If General Plo Koon had told Fox over holo-call that his entire living training batch plus necessary tagalong had spontaneously regressed five standard years, Fox would have been disconnecting the call to send a strongly worded message to Stone to keep his trainees away from any possibly treasonous mischief.

    As that was not what happened, Fox was forced to process the fact that he was staring at Wolfe, Cody, Bly, and Rex, looking like perfectly normal clone cadets when they were supposed to look like much older commanders.

    Commander Cody is reconditioned before he is deployed for the first time. Obi-Wan has never known him to be otherwise.

    No one has any hope for getting him back, not even his batchmates. Reconditioning is permanent. Isn't it? Then a battle gone wrong changes everything.
