Six months after Clarke moves back to her tiny hometown to raise her two-year old toddler around what family she has left, she expects to do just that, and only that. Summary
At long last there is peace in the seven kingdoms, brought about by an unlikely partnership between two of the greatest houses in Westeros: the Starks of the north and the Lannisters of Casterly Rock. But the Children of the Forest were not destroyed at the end of the last great war and trouble brews north of the wall once more. That was it. Just one more day, and Clarke would be married. Electricity was crinkling under her skin. She was a bundle of nerves, and had consequently banned all family and friends from the room in an attempt to find her balance before it was time to go. The mindless chitchat, the nervous energy coming off her mother and friends threatened to send her in a spiral. She kept staring through the window at the empty garden, her eyes distractingly tracking two birds flittering about the trees.
Suddenly, the floor creaked. Clarke did not even bother to turn around to stare down the intruder, eyes lost in contemplation.
"I told you I needed some alone time. Is that really too much to ask?"
"It's me."
