Summary
Some Hobbit families can trace their roots back farther than others. Those hobbits may not agree on just what their ancestor was, but they all agree that if they don’t leave the Shire, then there is no concern over that side of the family showing up in a hobbit.
Until the Fell Winter reminds them that sometimes it’s better to know who is who.
Bilbo brings something old; older than the entire Shire and awoken only partially before in his Took Lineage. With him on the quest, it’ll make all the difference when going up against Azog and Smaug.
After all, what better to fight a dragon with than a Ghost Fae?

It's beautifully written, go read it and give it love! This image shows Bilbo reforged as half hobbit, half dwarrow and is directly inspired by the following passage:
They stepped onto the dock, covered by a grand canopy and kept going until they reached a specific boat. Yavanna laid him down upon the bed, plucking a golden flower from her crown and tucking it behind his ear. “I have many wishes for you, little one, but first and foremost, I wish you to live a life of love.” She whispered before backing up and looking to her husband.
Together, they sent the boat off down the river to Ennor. -

Here's my finished version of art #99 of the Tolkien Reverse Summer Bang 2025 exchange. My prompt was picked up by the wonderful Lithdraug who wrote a thrilling longfic for it - of Bilbo setting out (rather involuntarily) to destroy the one ring. Cheering each other on with our projects over the summer was wonderful!

This is my take on I_did_not_mean_to's TRSB25 prompt "Disaster or Destiny?" (slide #14): Ori is having some kind of car trouble. Where is he going? What will happen? The focus must be on the romance. Ori may be any gender and sexuality, but the partner should be female-presenting. Humour, Pining, Hurt/Comfort are equally welcome.Ori wakes up on the shoulder of the highway, car steaming and turning lights flashing, front end of the car ground into the guard rail. At first, he has no memory of where he is or how he got there. Luckily, Liv arrives on site. Taking him for a check-up in the ER should be quick, right?

Summary
In a rain-soaked Northern England town, two insomniacs find solace in the only light that matters: The one burning in the window across the narrow alleyway.
Bilbo Baggins, a gentle author and bookseller drowning in self-doubt, and Thorin Oakenshield, a brooding carpenter carrying the weight of a failed legacy, have spent months as silent companions in the dark. A 2 AM cigarette. A shared understanding of heavy silence. The comfort of knowing someone else is awake.
But when loneliness finally forces the neighbours to cross those twelve feet of cobblestone, they discover that the line between friendship and something more is as fragile as the sleep they've been chasing.

A bad interaction with a guard lands him in hot water, and even after demanding to speak with the king, he finds himself on the other side of Erebors' law and a power-hungry guard.

Summary
Six months after the company has reclaimed the misty mountain, the halls of Erebor, once again, thrum with life, laughter and the steady rhythm of Dwarven trade. It is well over-due that Thorin Oakenshield, Son of Thrór, Son of Thráin, King under the Mountain, confronts an injury he received during the Battle of the Five Armies. One he has done his best to put to the back of his mind.
Namely, the wound to his foot.
Despite Óin’s, and the rest of the company’s, best efforts, Thorin refuses to use the cane that will ease his pain and prevent further damage. It will take an equally stubborn hobbit to convince him otherwise and to reveal that some battles are best not fought alone.
In doing so, uncomfortable truths are laid bare and moments of quiet longing surface. Amid Erebor’s rebuilding is a new chance for them to heal and begin building a future in which love, slowly and patiently, is ready to grow.

Summary
All Bilbo wanted was to be an ambassador to one of the richest kingdoms in Middle Earth. Upon meeting its prince, his opinion is greatly lessened. However, Bilbo still finds himself agreeing to play the part of his consort to help free Erebor from the gold mad Thror. Turns out, Thror may not be as blind as his grandson thinks, and intends to use Bilbo to get rid of Thorin once and for all.
