Summary
Severus never received nice things. He never won the game, came out on top, or received first prize. Severus built his whole persona around being on the fringes of everyone’s lives, and he certainly did not like to reveal his private life on a public stage. Severus knew firsthand that falling often feels like flying until the bone-crush, but one beautiful witch and one magical Christmas Eve might make him change his mind.
Suddenly, the limelight that followed Hermione Granger around might not be so much of an issue for him, not if she was on his arm and by his side, that is. He might, in fact, bask in this Gold Rush for as long as she allowed him to do so.

Summary
The tattoos on Severus’s chest swirled in recognition of Hermione’s surge of magic. Like an oncoming storm, he could smell the petrichor in the air. As Severus watched from across the room, Hermione smiled felinely, poised to deliver the final verbal blow to her ex-partner, Ron Weasley, as she demurely sipped her glass of Chianti. He needed to leave, because if she did look through the snow into the car window where he sat and locked eyes with him, he knew the horrified look he would see. She thought he was long dead and cold in the ground, after all. He knew because she drove last week to visit his grave.

Summary
Sometimes, when Hermione is supposed to be watching things under her microscope, she watches Snape instead.
His hair is tied back when he brews, but not very tidily. There is a single gleaming strand that always ends up falling into his eyes. Every movement he makes is minimalistic, only as much happening as is absolutely necessary. When he cuts up daisy roots, the pieces are all the exact same size.
