Kiyoomi and Atsumu aren’t dating, but Atsumu thinks they are.

“Hey, so what’re we doin’ on Friday?” Atsumu asks. He tucks his head over Kiyoomi’s shoulder and watches him pour hot water over the coffee grounds.
“Friday?” Kiyoomi says, looking halfway over his shoulder and nearly bumping noses with him. “I don’t know what you mean.”
“Friday? The 23rd? Our anniversary, dumbass,” Atsumu says. He pulls away and goes to grab mugs for their coffee when Kiyoomi pours out the last of the hot water. When he turns back, he raises his brows at Kiyoomi’s blank expression.

Summary
If Atsumu fell in love and the sentiment was mutual, then that person would simply forget about the love that bloomed, leaving Atsumu to harbor the feelings all on his own.
The cruel rule was just as simple as that.
Or how Atsumu learned not to let himself fall — yet still found himself drowning in the depths of one Sakusa Kiyoomi.
