Summary
Lance McClain's wishes have all come true. He's returning from Washington to his family home in Florida as a top graduate of his flight academy, and with a first class ticket straight into the Air Force. But his world shatters when he finds out the State's new governor Harris Sendak wants to destroy his hometown's pristine bay reef by turning it into a fishery.
He teams up with his childhood best friends Hunk and Pidge, along with Allura and Coran, a pair of tourist trappers with a passion for ocean conservation. Their mission: Prove to governor Sendak and the entire state of Florida that Atla Bay is worth protecting.
But things get more complicated when saving a friendly shark turns into helping a friendly... guy? Maybe Lance has bitten off more than he can chew with this one.

Purple had only taken off her elytra for a few days. Just a few days.
But her back itched.
Mango Orange was almost 40 years old and very knowledgeable, but even he could not tell you why he found a trail of dusty feathers in his living room at 7 A.M.
An hour, two cups of coffee, and a relatively okay breakfast later, he was finally ready to investigate it.
Green opened the trapdoor and called out with one long clarinet note.
... He didn't get a response. They called again, verging a few steps into the house proper. This time, a noise in the silence of the rooms.

Or: What happens when you come to rely on something with otherworldly origins too much, and it decides its code would be much better off merged with yours. After all, it was once living as well, and if you use it so much, surely having it as a permanent fixture in your life would be more of a boon than a curse.
It's only a shame that the process is so painful.
(Maybe less of a shame that the people around you love you enough to help, though.)
