Summary
The sun is setting when Dream sings to his son for the first time. He picks Orpheus up with steady hands, resting him against his chest. From where he stands on the balcony of his throne room, the lands of the Dreaming stretch out endlessly, lucent under the golden film of the evening light.
When he sings, his voice is soft and modulated and beautiful. Orpheus is three summers old and he peers wonderingly at his father’s solemn face, into his eyes that seem to look out of a well of stars, and he is transfixed, for Dream’s voice carries with it the love and longing of a thousand bygone dreamers and poets.

“You have two options, Tartaglia. One— you simply embrace death. Let the flowers fester and eat through your lungs. Suffocate on their beauty. A horribly dull way to leave this mortal plane, if you ask me. Although, I would have fun dissecting your corpse, if you would allow it.”
Childe’s face twists. It’s an utterly selfish option— He has his family to think about, his siblings who need him. They’re still so young. And as much as Childe hates agreeing with Dottore, it is a dull way to die, to be bested by fucking flowers. He’s always imagined dying a glorious death on the battlefield, surrounded by the bloodied corpses of those fallen by his blades.
Childe tastes copper on his teeth. “And the other option?”

Summary
When he’s sure that the red of his face has completely subsided and he’s once again capable of speaking without making a fool of himself, Childe opens his mouth to tease Zhongli about mothering him.
But then his sentence is cut short as Zhongli absentmindedly brushes his hair aside to reveal the smooth, tantalizing curve of his neck, and Childe promptly trips over a step on the winding stairs of the admittedly narrow path, careening headfirst over the side of the mountain.
(In which Childe and Zhongli go on a trip to Mt. Hulao, much to the consternation of the local adepti population.)

Lan Wangji heard his brother's voice raised in sharp and incomprehensible protest. His own heart was beating too loudly for him to hear anything else.
