The woman looks truly embarrassed now, awkwardly going to rub at her neck and then stopping her hand when she realizes it is still in the thick leather of a smithing glove.
“I fear you have fallen for a trick my cousins love to play. On me, and on others. There is no Lord here, not…truly. Not in the way you would assume one to be.”
Annatari feels her face disfigure itself into what is almost a scowl. “What is it you mean? Speak plainly!”
Seducing the Lord of Eregion is not so easy after all.

Summary
“You must know my grandfather, or father. People often say I look like them. Or perhaps you know one of my uncles even,” I continued hastily, face growing even hotter under his touch. “They are all well known, I am not.”
Somewhere in the back of my mind, I worried about my dressrobes. It was absurd, but they were truly my most elegant clothes and I did not want them to be dusty, especially not before stepping before Lord-maker Aulë.
“No,” he said firmly, suddenly fingering my hair as though he were investigating. “It is you I know, it must be.”
“My Lord,” I said, my worry for my robes slowly morphing into worry for my self.
Yet, he interrupted me with his rising voice, repeating his “No!” once more and then adding: “You have never called me that.”
I wasn’t quite sure what to make of that and to my great shame and embarrassment recall making a small, whimpering noise that echoed down the marble tiled floor of the cloister.

Summary
Celebrimbor folds him open, bloodying his hands, and looks at him lying there like a pinned butterfly. Again, Mairon draws a deep breath and Celebrimbor watches in fascination as the lungs behind his ribcage flare.
“I am beginning to think that a surgeon without eyes would have served me better or at the very least faster,” Mairon says, voice just slightly unsteady.
“Oh, please,” Celebrimbor says. “I know you enjoy that it is me. I know you enjoy me looking at you, too.” It’s something he would have said to Annatar, when their sexual relationship was presupposed and mutual desire was more evident than anything else between them.

“Well,” I said. “It’s nice to have an audience that won’t boo me.” If Jake was around, he‘d have booed me now, but he didn’t.
I wish I could have chewed on my nails or anything, but I was nothing, no mouth, no fingers. The more I thought about it, the more horrifying it became. Was this how Ax felt? Was I becoming part of The One now? I didn’t feel like I was losing myself mentally, but then again, I didn’t know what getting absorbed or assimilated or whatever felt like.
