Summary
“No getting out of it now.” Bobby’s steady voice makes him flinch.
“We literally haven’t moved.”
“You could run,” Bobby says with a shrug. “But then you’d have to deal with Athena.” He steps into the RV.
Turning around, Buck sees Athena standing at the doorway, her hand still in the air. When she catches his eye, something in her expression shifts. He’s seen that expression before. Typically, she uses it on people who are about to flee arrest.
I fucking dare you.
Sighing, Buck gets on the RV.
*
After a call that is almost his last, Buck is having a hard time. He’s avoids his family, his friends, and everything in between. When Bobby suggests they go on a road trip, he almost laughs. But what’s worse? He actually says yes.
Or: The Post 5A recovery road trip fic literally no one asked for, but I wrote anyway.

“It’s perfect.” Buck rasps

Summary
“Eight thousand dollars,” Christopher squawks, eyes nearly bugging out of his head as he whips his neck to look at Buck. “Someone paid eight thousand dollars to take you out on a date?!”
“I was a catch,” Buck defends himself. “I did a backflip!”
“Eight thousand dollars!” Christopher yells, banging on the table. “To go on a date! With you!”
“I’ll have you know, we went to a very expensive restaurant. And we talked. A lot. She was very interested in what firefighters do!”
“I mean, Dad takes you to restaurants, and he doesn’t go flashing eight thousand dollars,” Christopher rambles. “We’d go bankrupt in a week!”
Eddie freezes.
“Oh,” Buck says, reddening. “Not—Not like that, Chris. That, um—That was a date,” he stutters.
“Semantics,” Christopher waves him off, eyes wild. “It can’t have been that different, can it? You eat, you talk, you flirt, blah blah blah. How’s paying ten grand justify that?”
—or, a 9x11 (crack) coda.
