Nurse Iero is a fuckup. What else is new? But this fuckup deserves a special kind of punishment. And maybe in Ravencolm Hospital, servicing the prisoners in the adjoining penitentiary, he might find purpose again, maybe even peace. Turns out that's pretty fucking hard to do with a coworker like Gerard, with his inexplicable need to dress the way he does, and treat Frank like human flotsam. The rest of the town's creepy-ass denizens aren't helping, or the fact that it's in the middle of nowhere, without even a proper grocery store. Or maybe Frank just deserves to go through hell.

Then Frank Iero waltzed back into her life, and he was just as lovely as he was when she ran away from the whatever-it-was they had in high school, and that was a big problem for her and her spinster-at-twenty-three way of life. What’s a poor girl to do?

I think it is, though, I mean, you talk shit about your job all the time. Not the point, though, just – do you want to try?”
Frank doesn’t know how to respond for a moment. The surprise of Gerard delivering an at least halfway formed plan in the same conversation as it’s introduced is enough that it renders him nearly speechless, and he says, “Wait – fucking. What?”
