Steve wonders if perhaps he really had slipped and fallen in the parking lot the previous morning, wondering how the hell he'd ended up agreeing to spending Christmas Day at the Munson trailer instead of lounging in the silence of the Harrington house with a bottle of scotch.
He looks up at the sky as he stands at the foot of the trailer's steps, blinking up at the snowflakes as they whirl around and dust his hair and cheeks. "This snow better knock it off," he murmurs, rolling his shoulders and setting a foot on the first step. He isn't entirely sure he's mentally prepared to spend the night there if the storm really comes as the weather forecast had promised.

Summary
The late June heat lingers with a slow sort of stretch that envelops the two amid the sleepy safety of dusk. Steve’s sleeves hastily rolled and shoved haphazardly onto peeling, sunburnt shoulders in accommodation as they aimlessly walk empty neighborhood streets. Bathed in the golden lamplight of suburbia. Steve distracted enough to allow the older boy to lead him this far along without so much as a question of their destination since leaving the hotboxed confines of Eddie’s Uncle’s trailer.
“Hey,” He begins conversationally. Eddie’s eyebrows lifting expectantly, though he goes on smoking. “The element of surprise and I don’t mix so well these days, you know? Not that consideration exactly comes to mind when I think of you, Munson. But —“
Steve’s face softens as Eddie’s eyes roll theatrically. “Could be nice to clue me in now.”

“I’m not sitting in the front?” Eddie asks, a brow raised, twitching as Steve holds the trunk open, gesturing for him to climb inside.
“And have you try anything funny when I’m driving? Fat chance. Suspicious people that crawl back from their own grave don’t get front seat privileges, Munson.”
Eddie is going to die at the hands of Steve 'The Hair' Harrington. He'll take him somewhere in the dark, drag him out to the woods and brain him with that bat that he's clinging so tightly to. Maybe he'll be able to do the job that Eddie is too much of a coward to do himself; maybe it's easier that way—kinder.
Or
Eddie's back from the Upside Down after nearly two and a half years, hungry for something that isn't Mickey D's, and Steve's the only one with a house empty enough to hide him away.
