Lieutenant Jemma Simmons is a half-Betazoid, half-Human who has spent a lifetime hating her Betazoid heritage and the telapathic abilities that came with it. When she is called to unearth and hone those abilities, will her friends be able to accept her? Will she be able to accept herself?
Lieutenant Leopold Fitz is damaged by the heroic sacrifice he made to save Jemma's life. But now she doesn't only know that he loves her, she can sense it. Will he have to shield her from his thoughts in order to keep her as a friend?
