Naruto lurched forward on instinct, only to jerk backwards as Neji’s vicelike grip clamped his shoulder.
“What in the hell are you doing?” Neji hissed. His lavender eyes bored into Naruto’s skull with the intensity of a sniper’s scope—unblinking, unyielding.
“What’s that s’posed to mean?” Naruto snarled, fingers curling into fists to stop himself from slamming the Hyūga into the nearest wall. “That’s Sasuke. I know it’s Sasuke! My bondmate. The father of my kids—” The only soul I’ve ever loved.
“Na. Ru. To.” Neji bit out each syllable like a curse, grip shifting to clamp Naruto’s jaw. “You cannot kidnap civilians off the street. That’s not vigilantism—it’s a felony.”

Everything is smooth-sailing, until he's assigned to a mission with Sasuke after two years of not seeing him. Sasuke has always been number one in his life, and it is only now that Naruto is forced to reflect on that.
