He doesn't want to lose. Fiore doesn't want to lose him, though she doesn't want to admit it. He also wants her to be okay.

Alec looks up and sees that she’s crying too. Her eyes are full and wet, her face flushed and red. Tears drip down, washing away the mud in its path, as her lip quivers.
He doesn’t think he’s ever seen her cry like this. He’s seen a few tears slip free before, usually when she’s really frustrated, but it’s for only a second before they’re gone.
But right now she’s actually fully crying. Fully face-scrunched and crying.
“Do you really want to get away from me that bad?” Fiore says, ending on a choked breath.
Alec’s world freezes.
All he can focus on is her. He stares at her as the rain beats down around them, trying to process what she’s said.
“I… what?”
