A light breeze blew through grey and green and scarlet hair under the evening sky as a cord was strummed.
"I used to think that I was bold~" Wanda Maximoff, only sixteen at the time, sang out as her twin strummed her guitar beside her, "I used to think love was for fun~" Lorna Maximoff barely needed to glance down at the strings as she played her old guitar, a gift from the twins' late father.
"Now all my stories have been told, except for one~" Pietro Maximoff watched in awe as his cousins' hands were enveloped in red and green, "If the stars ever align~" The twelve-year-old laughed loudly, freely, as the stars and constellations above them shifted at Wanda's words.
"I hope you take it as a sign that you'll be okay~" Lorna and Wanda watched as their little cousin smiled and laughed without care for the first time in a long time. Wanda and Lorna watched as the light in Pietro's eyes returned, bright and content and everything the boy hasn't been.
They watched as two became three, and as that three became family.
"Everything will be okay~"

“Today is a remarkable day in history!” Doom announced, lifting his arms to the sky. "For today, the rule of the Avengers ends! Today...the rule of Doom begins!"
Not a single person present, whether they were shaking uncontrollably in the crowd or raising their arms in victory as electric sparks rained down around them, really knew what quite to expect next. But what did happen next, nobody possibly could have anticipated.
Someone laughed.
It was just a little snicker, something that normally would've been lost in the din of the crowd, but it rang like a gunshot in the deafeningly quiet street.
Doom had to scan the crowd for several tense seconds before he finally located him. The grinning teenage boy, shaking with poorly repressed laughter.
When he noticed Doom staring at him, he only laughed harder.
“I--I'm sorry, Doom?” he managed to get out, between gasps for breath. “That's what you decided to call yourself? Doom?”
(Doctor Doom, in defeating the Avengers, finds himself facing a new, unlikely challenger.)
