"My name 𝘪𝘴 Wei Wuxian, and the Yilling Laozu is also me, but you give me too much credit. Human extermination is not a hobby of mine."
"But- But- Why did I summon you if you aren't a bloodthirsty demon?!"
"Now, how would I know that? You tell me."
Mo Xuanyu sacrificed his body to bring back the Ylling Laozu, but the product doesn't quite meet the expectations..
Mo Xuanyu lingers as a spirit, and learns that maybe Wei Wuxian is not what he thinks. Like, at all.

Summary
Wei Wuxian takes a deep breath, filling Mo Xuanyu’s lungs to their capacity with the chilly autumn air. Together, they hold that air inside them until it hurts, until Wei Wuxian is reminded that to be alive means to hurt. It has always hurt and will continue to do so.

Lan Zhan looks at him, his gaze assessing. Then, slowly, he drops his hand to his hip. He unbuckles his sword from where it’s hanging from a leather belt, and lifts it to place it on the kitchen counter just outside his easy reach. “I’m here to ask for your help. Not compel you. I believe Wen Chao, and perhaps others in his sect, have been somehow perverting cultivation with the influence of the supernatural. The undead, specifically.”
Wei Ying takes an entirely unnecessary breath. “My influence, you mean.”
