“I wanted to tell you- this is fun, don’t look at me like that!” he titters for a moment, then grins. “You were in my dream last night.”
Jean schools his features to look unimpressed, and affects his voice to neutrality. “And what were we doing in your dream, Harry?”
Harry scratches the back of his neck, looking thoughtful. “We were running for hours and hours, day and night looping around us. But eventually, I realized we were just running in circles, and I wanted us to go somewhere instead.” Jean flushes a bit at how serious Harry seems about his strange dream.
Jean stands up rather abruptly, suddenly self conscious, setting about gathering his gym clothes from his bag. Without looking at Harry, who’s following his lead in getting ready for class, he asks, “Where did we go?”
He can’t interpret the tone of Harry’s voice. Maybe he’s apologetic, or calculating.
“I woke up before we could figure it out. You should think about where you would’ve liked for us to go. And if I have that dream again, I’ll try and get us there.”

After Kim’s permanent transfer six months prior, Satellite-Officer Vicquemare became increasingly bitter and volatile around Harry, who always sought out the Lieutenant for second opinions during their cases, which gnawed at Jean’s sanity.
The screaming matches were nothing new for them. Some people would have even said that anything too quiet was suspicious, but since his amnesia, Harry didn’t fight back, just apologized, stayed silent and looked at his shoes. The kicked puppy routine made Jean go nuclear for a myriad of unpleasant reasons. The main being that anyone witnessing these exchanges would instantly feel sorry for Harry, as if his amnesia absolved him of all the sins past and future, as if he was not the catalyst responsible for this dynamic.
It lasted three more miserable months before an opportunity arose. And when it did, Jean asked Pryce immediately for the roles to be shuffled : that Kitsuragi officially be paired with Du Bois - he’s already doing all of his work with him anyways - and Vicquemare joining McCoy - Satellite-Officer Simon just went on indefinite sick leave didn’t he? I can take over.
