They're out for a late afternoon drive when Nishiki spots an open beach that's completely empty. It's warm out and just him and Kiryu, so he figures, what the hell - let's go skinny dipping! Kiryu is less enthusiastic, but as always, he goes along with Nishiki's impulsive whims. Maybe it is nice to have a break from the city, just the two of them and a beautiful sunset - no loud noises, no bright lights, just skin on skin and some good ol' fun.

Kiryu finds himself back in Kamurocho in 1988, but he has no idea how he got there - the last thing he recalls is being whacked in the back of the head and waking up in an alley. One glance at his reflection in one of the shop windows tells him where he's at and that he's still himself from 2016, the almost-50-year-old ex-yakuza still getting dragged into their bullshit. At least he knows he can count on laying low at Serena, where he also hopes to see someone he's missed for a very long time.

If asked, he could lie and say his tearful response was spurned on solely by pleasure, but Kiryu isn't a total dumbass and he already spends enough time worrying on behalf of others. He spent so much of their childhood looking after Nishiki, talking him down from panic attacks in that calm, near-detached voice of his, drying the tears off his burning cheeks, holding him through nightmares and thunderstorms when they were small enough to fit in the same bed. Nishiki can brave nightmares and thunderstorms on his own now, but he's never going to stop needing Kiryu. He's never found the words to tell his friend the depths of his feelings, though, so he just resigns himself to crying about it instead. Preferably alone and not right in front of the object of his agony.
