Summary
Xie Lian has a secret.
It’s not that big of a secret, he thinks to himself—but already the uneasy roiling of his stomach gives him away. He waits until Hua Cheng is both busy and distracted—yes Hua Cheng is often busy, but he is not often distracted. There isn’t much these days that seems capable of pulling Hua Cheng’s attention away from Xie Lian for more than a few moments. That’s why Xie Lian is forced to wait, forced to bear his patience wearing thin and threadbare as time stretches on and the itch underneath his skin grows stronger.
Finally, Hua Cheng is gone, and Xie Lian is free. The thought makes him dizzy with anticipation. He gets up, fumbling, ties his robes tight around himself, and goes for a walk. He finds a clearing near a creek, and sits down with a sigh. He lets his hand trail in the water, watches the water weave through his fingers, and feels a lightness in his head at the knowledge of what he is about to do.
Then he pulls back his sleeve, draws his blade, and closes his eyes.

Summary
A thought suddenly occurs to Dick. He might get punched for asking, and Damian might already know…but if he does know, then why would he still be this stressed all the time? “There is something,” he begins, thinking carefully about what he wants to say. “You might have tried it already, though.”
Damian rolls his eyes. “Just tell me, Grayson.”
Dick takes the plunge. “Masturbation.”
Damian is silent for a few seconds, his cheeks rapidly flushing. “What.”

Summary
Damian takes a deep breath and unlocks the bathroom door, sitting on his bed. He glances at the door leading to the hallway, and gets up again to turn the key and engage the deadbolt. Drake may be annoyed if he finds out about the locked door (Bruce is very firm in his beliefs that there should always be an easily available exit, and he's instilled that principle into his third son), but dinner isn't due for another ninety minutes, and no one should disturb Damian until then. He walks to the window, drawing the curtains, then makes his way back to the bed. There, he pauses to consider whether or not he should remove his clothes; he decides against it, too embarrassed to expose himself in that way, even with no one able to see him.
Leaning back against the pillows, he inhales, holds the breath for a count of four, and releases it. There's nothing wrong with what he's about to attempt, he tells himself. It's a natural biological process. With that thought, he gathers his courage and slips a hand beneath the waistband of his sweats.
or: damian has been stressed. he tries out a relaxation technique recommended by his eldest brother. it doesn't go as planned.

It's two years later when Bruce finally lays eyes on Tim.
They are at a birthday party for one of the board members of WE.
He looks so grown up. His shoulders are wider, and he stands taller, less stocky than when he was younger.
His hair is much longer, reaching his neck, and bangs hang over his eyes. He has a small amount of stubble on his cheeks and chin, as though he hasn't shaved in quite a few days.
Tim shows up after two years and Bruce is terrified by who he sees. He won't let Tim slip through his fingers this time.
