Summary
Steve can’t seem to make himself leave Max’s letter at home.
The envelope sits heavily in the front breast pocket of his bomber jacket—he had to fold it, across the middle, to fit, and now he can never quite get it to lie flat, even when he takes it out and smooths it down against the table.
He’s taken to wearing the bomber jacket everywhere, even though it probably makes him look like an idiot most of the time, and even though it could really use a good wash. It’s the only jacket he has that ensures the folded envelope stays flat. He doesn’t want to risk any more damage than he’s already done with the everyday wear of his fingers against Max’s scribbled Steve.

Summary
After they defeat that creature and get the news that Will has been found and is in the hospital, they just fucking…collapse.
Right there, on Jonathan Byers’ bed.
Jonathan is exhausted after trying to find Will.
Nancy is exhausted after trying to find Barb.
And Steve is just tired.
There are matching scars on Jonathan and Nancy’s palms. Steve’s nose is busted up by the very boy who just grabbed him and saved him from a monster- after which, Steve saved him in return. Nancy's bat is loosely dangling from Steve's fingers.
And the three of them collapse, falling into each other, curling around each others’ aching bodies in Jonathan Byers’ cramped bed in the house with the peeling wallpaper and the burn scars on the carpet and the frantic alphabet scrawled on the wall in an attempt to communicate with a boy who couldn’t become a ghost.
They don't even have the energy to shower. To wash off the blood and the smell of smoke from burning hell-fire creatures.
They just fall into each other, the weight of gravity too hard to fight.

Summary
