Just before they neared the pond, Kristin stopped Theseus. She picked up some dirt and smeared it all over his pristine white toga and face. She messed up his hair and grabbed a red berry, splattering across his cheek to look like blood.
“I look mortal,” Theseus said, his face scrunched up in disgust.
“Good. You’ll be living as one.”
“What? But I’m a god! I have to watch over you and make sure you don’t find your way back to the Heavens--”
“Shush, dear,” Kristin snapped. “No talk of divinity, alright?”
Despite the loss of her godhood, Kristin could still command the respect of a godling such as Theseus. She still carried the bearings of a divine being-- it wasn’t something lost instantaneously as power-- it came from billions of years of existence and service to the Universe.
