Summary
Jensen has never gotten over the loss of Colin, his childhood friend and only love, who died tragically. The only things he has left of his lost love are an old picture, the ring he gave Colin, and the child they had together. Jensen was never able to love again, he married only for convenience and enlisted himself in the army to try and have a purpose in life. After Jensen’s wife leaves him, he needs to find nanny after nanny to help take care of his younger children but none of them last long, apparently not able to handle Jensen’s tough personality. Jensen just can’t help it, his heart has been ripped from his body, and his soul was shattered irrevocably the moment Colin stopped breathing, leaving Jensen only a shell of a man with a stone interior.
Miles away, Jared grew up in a monastery after being abandoned by his mother. The time is coming for him to take the vows and become a monk, but Jared knows there’s another call in his heart. He must decide to either stay forever or leave the only home he has ever known because he feels there’s somewhere else he needs to be and someone out there is waiting for him. And Jared hopes he can finally find out why he keeps dreaming about a very peculiar rose.

Summary
Jensen is your typical, overworked med student with a caffeine dependence who's carrying a torch for the distressingly sexy, nicotine addicted owner of the coffee shop he frequents in order to to get his fix, and like any good Samaritan would, he decides to help Jared kick his smoking habit for good. What he doesn't know is that Jared’s keeping a secret of the large, scaly, fire-breathing variety.

Summary
Jared could say that his life is pretty much all dedicated to the sport he loves the most - and is great at, if he may say so himself: basketball. He got himself a scholarship to attend UT Austin and plays for the college’s team. He could be very well considered the star of the team… if he didn’t have to share the spotlight with Jensen. Fucking. Ackles. Despite having undeniable chemistry on court, they just can’t stand each other and have nothing in common. Or at least they thought so.
When Padalecki suddenly takes a year off to study abroad, Jensen is totally okay with it. He goes on with his plan to keep upping his game and hopefully become a professional player someday. But the thing with life is that sometimes it throws a curveball at you. Or dunks the ball on your head. And sometimes, that ball shatters all the dreams you built. Jensen finds himself dealing with a whole new reality he’s not ready for, and doesn’t want to face. And what is even more ironic, is when the one person who Jensen honestly didn’t want to find out what happened is the only one who can help to get him back in the game in a way Jensen never imagined. And also brings along a feeling he thought was buried very deep down.

He is shy, socially awkward, and obviously ill and unkempt. His financial situation is precarious and his living conditions appalling. Jared has already suffered more losses and battled more life-threatening health issues than most people do in their entire lifetimes. He is insecure, lonely, and vulnerable, burdened with guilt and shame from his past experiences. Despite Jared’s appearance and circumstances, Jensen is inexplicably drawn to him and slowly gains his trust. This seemingly unlikely pair develops a deep, irrefutable, and undeniable bond. Together, they learn to let go, forgive, ask for, and receive help to heal. Most importantly, they learn that it only takes one person to change your whole world for the better if you follow your heart.

Jared's life has always been mapped out for him: get good grades so he can get into a high-ranked college, get more good grades so he can get into an internship at a prestigious architecture firm, then land an even better job. When his uncle needs help remodeling his house, Jared volunteers. Soon after arriving at the tiny barrier island, however, he finds himself drawn into the laid back life of the locals, and one local in particular.
Jensen does alright for himself. A part-time gig at the local bar down on the main drag, along with the occasional repair work when his buddies wreck their surfboards keeps him from starving. He has a great group of friends, who know not to mention it when he talks in circles or his hands shake a little. He also has Jared now, and he's not too sure how things are going to look when it's time hand him back to the real world.
