Summary
When Nidhogg attempts to raze the village of Ferndale, he is slain by the Azure Dragoon, Ser Alberic Bale, who vanishes in the process. Estinien Varlineau, all of twelve summers at the time, loses his parents. By Halone's grace, his brother Hamignant lives through the attack. Taken in by their aunt, who has little idea what to do with two children, the three are forced to try their best to understand each other and keep their little steading afloat.
One year later, Archbishop Endalim V declares an advent for the Feast of Saint Alberic and pilgrims descend on Ferndale to celebrate in the very place Nidhogg was slain. Among them is the Viscountess de Borel, four knights of her House, and her young son, Aymeric de Borel.

Summary
In a world like Etheirys but not quite, the Final Days have come and gone, leaving the entire population with a unique quandary as they realize their world has been left in a peaceable sort of stasis. Children have grown up, but the old have cease to age. People have stopped dying, and people have stopped being born.
With true conflict a thing of the past and time a resource everyone has in spades, the world has settled into a state of eternal play. Within this world, Aymeric and Estinien, renown across the star for the way they dance around each other even now, are forced into proximity again by their simultaneous winning of the Xelphatol 500.

Summary
"Although I know you hate any kind of festivities," Aymeric wrote in his letter, "I'd be delighted to see you for them."
Estinien arrives for the ongoing celebrations for the Firmament, but he barely recognizes Ishgard in the wake of the Final Days. Children run and laugh in the streets. Gentle music and the smells of freshly-made food fill the air. Artisans from all across the star peddle their wares and help repair homes. Moogles dance in the fountain square. Some dragons have taken up craft trades.
This isn't the Ishgard he knows. This is an Ishgard built on the backs of people who never stopped trying to make things better, like Aymeric, or Haurchefant, or even the Lady Iceheart. This is an Ishgard of their hopes and dreams. Estinien does not belong here.
The dragoon nearly leaves as soon as he arrives, but then he comes across a suspicious, costumed figure: The Azure Elephant...

Bookmarker's Notes
This fic has is all:
Estinien feeling alienated from Ishgard because it has changed away from what he knows (even if for the better)? Check.
Aymeric running himself ragged and oddly enjoying it when he does it as the Azure Elephant, unintentionally failing to experience the golden age he himself is heading? Check.
Lovingly desperate sex? Check.
Knotting? Check.
Oral knotting, the golden goose of knotting? Check.
Estimeric getting frisky in the Azure Elephant costume? Check.
(Man, I'm so glad someone bit the bullet on that one before I did. I was bewidered no one had yet, but maybe I'm just a freak like that.) -
Summary
Aymeric and Estinien both spend their lives in equatable solitude, forever searching for something they didn't know they needed - until the end of the world brings them together at last. Their first love, their last love.
