Summary
Shi QingXuan is a good man, Hua Cheng knows this, his new roommate Ming Yi however, is not. He eats all his food, doesn't do any chores, lazes around all day, and then disappears for hours on end late at night only to return at god awful hours in the morning, waking Hua Cheng up with his relentless fridge rustling. Hua Cheng is just about at the end of his rope in trying to figure out a way to make it so Ming Yi isn't the complete bane of his existence, when the thought that Xie Lian's roommate and long time friend Shi QingXuan could help. He's a talkative guy, could bring anyone out of their shell with just a few words, and Hua Cheng suddenly saw the light. This could work. Now he just needs to get his boyfriend, Xie Lian, on board to help him convince Shi QingXuan to befriend the, mostly keeps to himself, Ming Yi.
Or alternatively Shi QingXuan falls in love with a man he meets one night at a bar, and then ends up having to neglect said man to try and befriend another who clearly doesn't want anything to do with him. (Or does he?) Life is truly unfair!

An agonizing second passes, then another, and the worst possibilities flash through Xie Lian’s mind - Hua Cheng hating him. Hua Cheng feeling disappointed and betrayed. Hua Cheng breaking up with him.
Then, into the sudden silence of the room, filled only by the quiet background noise of the movie, Hua Cheng speaks, his eye still fixed on the pin. His voice is awed, like he’s been given a gift he doesn’t feel like he deserves.

“What do you have to bet?” a lazy voice calls. It’s clear and deep, carrying easily over the noise that remains.
Xie Lian’s captor tugs sharply at the rope around his wrists, and he stumbles forward into view of a curtained-off section of the room. Behind the sheer red curtain, a silhouette of a reclining man is visible.
“I’m sure my lord needs concubines,” Xie Lian’s captor calls. “If you look closely, this man is quite attractive.”
