"Vi," says Mother a little louder than usual because of the downpour outside. "Where are you from?"
"The sea," says Vi in between bites of porridge. "I've always wanted to see what it's like up here on the top side. There are so many stories. You really walk on feet. Feet are so cool."
Caitlyn looks at her own feet. She's never once thought they were cool, but she supposes she will miss them if she no longer has them. That makes sense.

"You don't have to do that." Caitlyn looked like she wanted to be anywhere else but wasn't prepared to force her head out of Vi's delicate grip.

Having a dragon for a partner is normally a pretty amazing gig. Great in a fight, flying opportunities if necessary, and amazing at hunting. Vi's having a bit of a problem with her dragon though. Caitlyn refuses to stay in her draconic shape any longer than necessary and Vi's got a horrible feeling she knows why.

Ms. Kiramman drew back, her expression hardening, eyes growing icy once more. “So this is your opinion of me,” she said coldly. “Thank you for explaining so fully. Perhaps these offenses might have been overlooked had not your pride been hurt by my honesty–”
Vi scoffed in disbelief. “My pride?”
“–in admitting scruples about our relationship,” Ms. Kiramman went on, her voice rising. “Could you expect me to rejoice in the inferiority of your circumstances?”
A laugh bubbled out of Vi’s throat, anger burning in her chest. “And those are the words of a lady?” She stepped closer to Ms. Kiramman, so close now their noses were almost touching. “From the first moment I met you,” she spat, “your arrogance and conceit, your selfish disdain for the feelings of others made me realize that you were the last woman in Runeterra I could ever be prevailed upon to marry! We are oil and water, Ms. Kiramman. We were never meant to be.”

Summary
When her father told her they were to have a guest stay in their home for the whole summer– a princess– Vi nearly gagged on the spot. He had simply laughed, rubbed the top of her head, and explained the importance of this union for the kingdom. Whatever that meant.
I bet she doesn’t wrestle or hunt or box, either, Vi thinks ruefully. (She would find many years later, begrudgingly, that this is not true).
Their parents seem to see their exchange far differently. Their eyes crinkle at the corners and their snickers are hardly subtle. And both of them seem to enjoy this torture, wanting to elongate it until they’ve reached their limits.
This is going to be the longest summer of Vi’s entire life.OR:
