The second the words leave her mouth, Amanda’s fingers press slightly harder into her thigh. Not enough that anyone else would notice. Just enough that Angela does.
Angela’s breath catches. Her head snaps towards Amanda’s instinctively. Amanda’s gaze is still fixed on her phone. Completely casual. Except for the fact that Angela feels the subtle increase in pressure against her leg. Feels Amanda’s fingertips sink just slightly into the soft flesh of her thigh. And when Amanda finally glances up from beneath her lashes for half a second, her eyes are darker than they were a moment ago.
Darker and warmer and something else.

Summary
It’s May 1979 and the Order has just apprehended a pair of mysterious wizards who look remarkably like a Potter and a Malfoy. Naturally, James Potter and Sirius Black are called in to identify the strangely familiar strangers and determine their backgrounds and loyalties.
(This would be a lot easier if their captives weren’t convinced everyone they talk to is dead. It would also be easier if they didn’t spend half their bloody time bickering.)

“There’s not a single thing that I know about either of them from the first war that any old Death Eater couldn’t find out.”
“How is that possible?” Malfoy huffs. “He’s your father!”
“Am I or am I not famously an orphan?” Potter snarls.

Summary
Angela curls into his passenger seat, swaying to the beat as he speeds down the highway. He thinks about the same drives they’ve made in the past, on the younger side of their 20s, heading to some party because the night’s still young, blasting trashy music and screaming. He misses it sometimes.
But how lucky he is to get this, years later: Angela, with her head leaned against the window, smiling softly when she catches him looking her way. She reaches out a hand and curls it lightly around his shoulder, shaking him a little. “Eyes on the road, idiot.”
And so that’s how it probably goes. That summer ended, and something imperceptibly shifted, some wire crossed. Chanse is at least a little in love with Angela, but the world spins on.
