“Meh,” Varian shrugs, haphazardly tossing a book into his tent. “Treason’s only exciting the first couple times. It gets a little repetitive after that.”
He only realizes his mistake when three sets of eyes land on him.
“…Or so I’ve heard.”

Ever since Lucifer reconnected with his dearest daughter Charlie, he's been on an absolute roll, dadding it up all over the place! And yeah, maybe he had gotten a little overeager with the whole rebuilding-her-hotel thing. But it felt amazing, finally putting himself to good use for once! It really seemed like things were looking up! And- And they still are, of course. Things are still looking up!
Hah. Just like how he's still looking up into the ceiling right now, instead of actually getting out of bed and joining Charlie for breakfast.

Varian has been a part of the circus since before he could walk, taking after his mother who was the circus's poster child for years. Hugo is their newest addition, and Donella has left Varian up to the last of making sure everything goes smoothly.

“Something like that.” Hugo pauses for a second, contemplating. Then, “Did you grow up on a farm?”
An incredulous laugh bursts out before Varian can stop it. Because yeah, he did. “You’re supposed to be asking questions about your job.”
“I already know how to do my job.”
“We’ll see.”
“You don’t believe me, Blue?”
“I don’t care,” Varian says. “And my name is Varian.”
“What do your friends call you?”
“I doubt you’ll find out.”
