Summary
The trouble with Waterdeep was exactly what Gale had glibly told Shadowheart: that he knew with perfect clarity what he was returning to.
The sum of his life had been the sum of his dreams. That was all his home amounted to – an effigy to all the ideas that had ruined him. The shrine-to-be for all the hopes that had yet to sour. Facing up to it now left a pit at the bottom of his stomach.
or; Gale returns home and is faced with the harrowing challenge of figuring out his life and his new relationship, both of which are wrapped in difficult history

Summary
The woman tilted her head. "Do you know what we just did to you?"
Astarion's eyes darted between them, perplexed by the question. What they did to him…?
That's when he noticed the Selûnite pendant around her neck. She was a cleric… had she healed him? He tried to piece together a scenario that made any sort of sense, but the details barely added up. Had these people found him? If so, why did they drag him across the city? How did they do such a thing? Why wasn't he in Harborside getting treatment? He wasn't sure exactly how severe his injuries had been, but he knew for a fact that a simple healing potion would not have done a thing to mend him back together.
"Are you… healers?" he asked.
The bearded man's mouth dropped open. "Healers—? What? No," he began to reach for him, but thought better of it and awkwardly closed his fist instead. "Astarion, it's me. Gale."
Astarion didn't recognize his name or his face in the slightest, but the way he was looking at him gave him pause.
"I… I don't…" Astarion shook his head slightly, racking his brain. "I'm sorry… Have we met before?"

Summary
"First," said Gale. "Do not kill any thinking creatures in Waterdeep unless you must to protect yourself or you have my express permission."
As Gale spoke, he could feel the weight of his words sinking into the person sitting across from him. It was like casting a spell, but took no effort. Astarion had been staring hollowly into his goblet of blood, but at this he made a faintly interested noise. As if the rule were novel and he was considering the shape of it.
"Second, you will obey me in all things," said Gale. There didn't feel like there was any honest way of softening that. Astarion didn't make any sound at all.
"Third, do not leave the tower without permission." Astarion made another speculative noise, considering this one too. But then his shoulders hunched and his eyes skittered down, as if he didn't want to look at what was about to happen.
"Fourth," Gale said, and paused. He started with some context: "There is a tressym upstairs."
Astarion's head twitched. He looked up at Gale, blinking, startled. He had the air of someone who had been bracing for a blow and instead had just been handed a balloon animal.
"A what?" he asked.

Summary
Not sure what this is- an exploration of sex, obligation and intimacy in the early stages of their relationship.
*******
Astarion slid his hand suggestively up Gale’s thigh but instead of feeling what he expected - the subtle spread of a thigh, an arching at the base of his spine, maybe accompanied by a breathy exhale, a low moan - he felt him stiffen under his touch. Not the fun kind of stiffening, no. A recoil, slight but unmistakable. He frowned and looked at him, surprised and dismayed.
‘Why do you do that?’ Gale murmured, pointedly looking at the floor and not at him.
‘Do what?’ Astarion asked softly.

Summary
Astarion had thought the feeling might go away once they left the Shadowlands and he had eaten well for a few days, but the anxious knot is still tangled up within his rib-cage. Their motley crew might be out of that long, lonely dark, but they’re closer to Cazador. The longer they wait to confront his master, the tighter the knot becomes. If something doesn’t happen soon, he feels like the strings inside of him will snap.
