But –" and Ignazio's voice was getting reedy now. The sense of dread that had followed Levi for a month was suddenly snapping , and Levi could hear his blood rushing past his ears. It almost drowned out the sound of Ignazio's barely-contained panic.
"I just… please, don't hate me, okay?" Ignazio asked. His eyes were shining in the glow of the city lights. "Because I… fuck, I'll never speak to you again if that's what you want. Whatever… I just don't want to hurt you but I can't stop… how my mind works. I don't want to lose this friendship, because you are —" His voice breaks, and he clears his throat. "I've never really had anyone like you in my life before, except maybe Rosie. But Rosie don't… make me feel how you do."

But that was back when Ignazio was a dream. Levi could look and imagine and fantasize, but it wasn't real. It's far easier to tolerate something when you don't think you'll ever actually be able to get what you want.
Now Ignazio is painfully real. Levi can hold him and kiss him and confess things to him; and he knows that if he asked, Ignazio would do just about anything for him. More importantly, now Levi knows just how talented Ignazio is with his fucking mouth, and it’s all he can think about when he sees him smoking.
