He wished for once the city would only deliver the shortest of misty rain showers instead of these panic inducing shitstorms. He reached for his phone, unlocking it with slippery fingers and cursing himself as his finger hovered over Mark Hoffman's contact. Anything was better than rain and the chilling silence he’d go home to otherwise. His phone trills for a few seconds, time dragging on like agony, until Mark finally picks up, heavy voice slurring as he answers.

He keeps shifting towards Rooster like he’s testing his chances with a rabid dog, evaluating the cost of making the wrong move. Rooster imagines snapping forward, biting into his throat like a wolf and leaving him bleeding on the ground for his troubles.
He fought off the urge to slam his face forward and worry about the headache later when Jake felt safe enough to get barely an inch away from his face. He could feel Jake’s breath, watches his lips as he throws out a shit-eating smile, and stares as he walks away with the energy of someone who’s won some sort of trophy.

“U-Uhm, hello? Some–is anyone there?”
Robert pauses just in the doorway out of the kitchen, frowning. What the hell was Waterboy doing calling in? Everyone was dismissed hours ago.
Robert clicks the little button on the headset. “Waterboy? What’s up?”
Only then does he start slowly making his way back to his desk. The lights are all off, save for the lamp at the corner of his desk, and the warm, dim glow does nothing to help his exhaustion. “W–uh. Hey! Robert, yes–yeah. So I’m just. Well, I-I have a sort of, you know, situation.”
OR Robert's trying to finish up some late-night assignments. Waterboy is a disaster. It works out for them.

After a few minutes, Robert glanced toward the showers, then back at Waterboy. "You look like you could use a cooldown. A shower might help wash it all away - literally, in your case." He grinned, the expression fond and teasing. Innocently, he kept his hand on Waterboy's shoulder, the other reaching for the front zipper of the wetsuit. "Here, let me give you a hand with that. These things stick like glue when they're wet."
Waterboy's eyes widened, his mouth opening in a frantic attempt to warn him. "W-wait, Robert, I-I don't- Hold on, i-it’s, it's not-" But Robert's voice overlapped his stutters, warm and reassuring as he tugged the zipper down a few inches. "Relax. We've all been there. Just breathe."
Ziiip.
The zipper slid smoothly at first, exposing a strip of pale skin.. And then, Robert froze. There, trailing down from Waterboy's navel, was a faint happy trail of dark hair, leading southward without any barrier. No boxers, no briefs, nothing. It made sense, in hindsight - The guy was a constant fountain; underwear would just turn into a soggy mess. But logic didn't prepare Robert for the sight, his hand still gripping the zipper tab, eyes locked on that unexpected reveal.
