Jake shook his head again, weak and pathetic. “No…Roo, it…I–...I can’t see her…not like this…she’ll get scared.”
“Stop saying that,” Bradley insisted firmly, “She won’t, Jake, she won’t.”
“She will,” Jake responded weakly, his eyes drifting down to his own body and the burns etched into his flesh.
“She won’t.”
“She will!”
Bradley's expression had somewhat soured, his eyes narrowed, and his jaw clenched tight. “Why are you so convinced of that, Jake? Why do you believe Olivia won’t be happy to see you?”
Jake let out a pained snicker, “Because Roo…look at me–”
“I am looking at you, Jake, and what I see is my life partner and Olivia's dad,” Bradley responded, having cut Jake off from uttering the last half of his sentence.
He shook his head, his eyes glistening with another wave of tears, “You forgot horrifying, disgusting monster Roo…you forgot that part.”

Or, Jake Seresin suffered an injury that should have killed him, but he didn't. His body has changed as a result of that injury and he is terrified of what his daughter will think.

Jake ignores him in favour of continuing his stretches. They have been winning, and, yeah, it more than likely is thanks to Jake and his abilities. But he also has enough respect for his team by now to know that it’s definitely all of them working well together. Which most definitely wasn't something he ever thought he'd give credit to, that's for certain. But what can he say? Javy and them are becoming a well oiled machine.
“Do you boss them around like you did to your old teammates as well?” Bradley doesn’t seem to care for his silence, and Jake bristles at the question.
