“It’s not fair,” she cries, twisting in Ty’s grip and hitting at chest with her tiny fists, “I want my daddy.”
“I know you do,” her brother murmurs, tugging her into his arms, “I know you do,” he repeats as she hides her face in his chest and sobs. “I know you do,” he says again. His voice sounds funny that time and Katie wonders if maybe he’s crying too. The thought scares her. She’s never seen her big brother cry before.
“I called Coach Cal Dad,” she informs her brothers.
Next to her, she can feel Kyle stiffen, “That’s not a question,” he mutters.
“Did he cry? I bet he cried," even over the phone, she can tell Ty is smiling.

Summary
Buck is… beautiful–Eddie doesn’t know what other word could do him justice. From his curls to his freckles to his blue eyes, Eddie is just enchanted. It seems silly, but he can’t help but admire the miles of pale, freckled skin laid out in front of him, damn near on top of him, because Buck is just so goddamn beautiful it hurts. He wants to paint him, capture every quirk and flaw and perfection and smother it all on a canvas and tack it up on a wall, wants to show him off. Because he can do that now. Buck is his.

Summary
So they make their way to the next cage, and when Eddie’s eyes land on the dog inhabiting it, they widen slightly as he recoils.
It’s…a rat. That’s the only way Eddie knows how to describe it, though it does kind of feel like an insult to all rats.
Listen. Eddie isn’t one to judge others, including dogs, by their looks. It’s the inside that counts, and all that stuff. And he really does believe that! It’s just that this dog — if it can even be called that — is just about the ugliest looking creature he’s ever laid eyes upon. (Except for Tommy maybe, but thankfully he doesn’t have to deal with his face anymore.)

She heard Frank’s sharp intake of breath. When he next spoke, she could hear the frown in his voice.
“Robby, I’m- please, I’m sorry, man.”
She didn't know what exactly Frank was begging for. She just knew she didn't like it when he sounded like this.
“Then do better.”
For a second, Heather thought she may have misheard. Robby wouldn’t- Robby would never speak to anyone like that. But then again, Frank was never just ‘anyone’ to him.
