Summary
There were many things that Joe loved about Nicky. He could spend days - years - waxing poetic about his love. Right now though, Joe rather hated Nicky's patience. He'd been hard for what felt like hours, but Nicky was showing no signs of bringing him to release any time soon.

Summary
If you had asked Nile about immortals--before she became one… before she met them--she might have waxed poetic about the things one could learn from beings who had lived for so long - the languages, the art, the history! The reality was a lot more disappointing.

Summary
Nile was experienced living in close quarters with others. But none of her other living experiences prepared her for living with millennia old immortals. Nile mistakenly assumed as soldiers they all had a common culture when it came to sharing spaces, and in many ways they did. In other ways though, their idea of living together was so far apart as to be on different planets.

Summary
This information is based on American educational system post-high school, but some of what I talk about is universal for Canada and Europe also. I focus a bit on terminology and especially on titles, since Titles Matter in academia. We are egoists.
If you're looking for some 'healthy' teacher-student options, then grad students are the way to go without getting into ethics and power dynamic issues. Grad students teach, but don't have the same level of power in determining final course grades, so it isn't unethical for a Grad student to date an undergraduate student (though it is unethical to date a student while currently teaching them). Graduate students do have relationships with faculty, which again isn't unethical unless they are dating their own thesis adviser (not to say it doesn't happen…)
