“How did you do it?” The question escaped her before she could stop it, raw and unfiltered. She watched it land between them, exposed and fragile. Draco did not answer right away. His gaze dropped briefly to the stone floor, then returned to her.
“I don’t know,” he said simply.
Hermione nodded, a sharp movement. She had not expected certainty.“But I did,” he added.
The words settled into her chest with surprising weight. Not comforting, exactly, but honest, and honesty felt rare and precious right now.
Draco reached into his pocket and withdrew a small card, holding it out to her without ceremony. She hesitated only a moment before taking it.“My number,” he said. “Muggle. It’s… easier.”
She glanced down at the card. His name. A phone number. Nothing else. No titles, no flourishes.“I won’t expect anything,” he continued. “But if you ever need a friend. One who understands.”
