It’s a literal spring, apparently, because he shifts back and forth until he’s leaning into Williams’ personal space. Because how good would it be, to get back at Jay like this? In their shared hotel room? Fuck, in Jay’s stupid choice of a bed?
“You wanna check a preview back at my place?”
Williams smiles.
Matt's still reeling from the adoration he's getting from the press. An upcoming actor at Sundance approaches him, and, well, he's kind of a little bit like Jay.

The burning in Jay’s face is enough to make him itchy. He can’t identify the emotion behind it. It’s indignation and it’s mortification and it’s a new word ending in -ation no one has ever felt in history before called ‘Matt is talking about having a shitty girlfriend and that’s me’. He keeps his tight fists at his sides and his jaw clenched and Matt holds his gaze but he breathes like Jay just sent him for a race. And maybe Jay wants a race now.
It's 2008. Matt's a little bit drunk. Jay's a little bit high.

It feels less like sex with a girl and more like just two buddies? Hanging out? By frotting against each other? When he's hanging onto Matt's every word like he is right now, it's hard for Jay to keep lying to himself about it.
