Jimin has always been a prophecy for her. Minjeong caught sight of her, in her uniform of the color of the stormy sea, her midnight blue hair swinging from left to right, and felt the invisible lines tugging her towards her. Even if Minjeong was blind to her own fate, she already knew that being a Ranger, her death would arrive in the shape of waves and the taste of salt. She just didn't expect it to take the form of Jimin.

Summary
A fragile quiet falls between them. The clock on the wall ticks like a metronome, counting down to a deadline neither of them are aware of yet. This becomes the soundtrack to Minjeong’s first confession, the one she’ll regret the most years later. The one she can’t take back. The promise that becomes a death knell.
“I want to debut with you too,” Minjeong whispers. “Promise we’ll debut together?”
The debut plans for aespa fall through at the last minute. Minjeong leaves; Jimin doesn’t. Jimin never really forgives her for that.

Summary
Jimin and Minjeong have never been the closest duo in the band. In fact, they get into the stupidest fights a little too often; the smallest, most insignificant things lead to huge arguments and derail the entirety of practice for the day.
So when their manager calls a meeting for just the two of them, and tells them not to tell Aeri and Yizhuo about it, they think it’s very strange.
Even stranger when said manager tells them they need to have sex. With each other. On camera.or: amidst a particularly hard period of aespa's career, drummer Yu Jimin and guitarist Kim Minjeong are asked to perform a PR stunt by filming—and fake-leaking—a sex tape in order to save the band from disbandment.

She thought about the way Jimin’s voice dropped when she was annoyed. The way she looked over the rim of her glasses. The way she moved, like the whole world was just another room she commanded, that she owned.
And something inside Minjeong shifted. She didn’t just want to get Jimin’s attention. She wanted to see what made Jimin twitch, she wanted to see just what it would take to make all that practiced steadiness come crashing down. She wanted to be the cause.
And she already knew how.

Summary
Minjeong's body responds to Jimin's touch with ultrahuman sensitivity, coming to life beneath Jimin's fingertips as Jimin's skilful fingers dance expertly over it, playing her like a piano. Jimin knows exactly how to touch to make Minjeong's blood sing, how to blaze a symphony over her skin.
Jimin thinks of the journey over the years to here and now, Minjeong sitting beside her, herself but at the same time not, warm nonetheless. And maybe, all along, this warmth was all that mattered.
(Or: Jimin, a scientist, builds an android in the image of her ex-lover, and they fall in love. They fall in love, and Minjeong becomes real and human.)

Minjeong turns her face to the sky. “God,” she whispers when the stars blur sharp and too close. “God, forgive me.”
“No,” Jimin says, voice raw. She’s going to die like this. “Don’t ask Him for that.”
Minjeong turns to her, eyes salted, shattered electric. “I’m not,” she shudders, anoints Jimin’s forehead with spit and light. “I’m asking you.”
Small towns know too much and forgive too little. Their latest eschatological parable goes like this: the sunburnt storm and the golden lamb find each other nineteen and knee-deep in creekwater, learn something of thistle itch and fever hymn. Bruised halos and wildfire lips, they waste their fathers’ diesel to cross county lines.
It’s a hard lesson for a homily now, but the origin is awfully simple. Minjeong prays for something holy. Jimin answers with an open mouth.

Summary
"Let's put on a show, yes?" Jimin's hands are heavy, sear through the layers of her skin like a prayer. Red lights bleeding into her marrow, Minjeong supposes this is what salvation tastes like.
When Jimin smiles, she faintly registers that she's drooling.
Minjeong is no stranger to damnation. Her initials are probably scrawled somewhere in the margins of a divine blacklist, smudged past recognition, born unworthy of sainthood. She knows God only in glimpses: as an apparition, as moral excess, as the faceless transgressors who log on to watch her unravel on silicone.
She comes to learn of the God that lives within a woman with steady hands and wine-dark eyes, watching her like a reckoning. She does not know which version of Him is worse.

All her fault for her bleached hair and soft gaze and squeezable cheeks and adorable dimples and red-currant lips and slim waist and ocean scent. Now, in addition to the looming threat of eternal damnation, Jimin also has to worry about her computer catching a virus from this sketchy website.
All Minjeong’s fault, indeed.
Jimin definitely doesn’t have a crush on the very smart, very gentle, very pretty, and very female Kim Minjeong. No matter what her friends have to say about it.

The crease deepens in Vi’s cheek until the smile breaks through, and when they’re back on the highway with the wind thundering through the open windows, sun on her skin and her hair cutting across her vision so that Vi comes to her in flashes of white teeth and black glasses, in arms shifting to the sixth gear, her voice full and loose as she sings, Caitlyn stops herself from closing her eyes around the moment because she can already see herself years from now running her thumb over this one like a worn photo from a wallet and she doesn’t want to be there yet, in the future where all of this is behind her — she wants to be here, now and in it, in the possibility that it could go on forever. Like asphalt, like sun.

Vi rolled her eyes slightly, shrugging and still refusing to meet her sister’s gaze. “Right. So you find me a date that doesn’t know what I look like, I go out with her looking… less hot, and then if she sticks around that proves she likes me for my great personality.”
With a slightly screwed up expression that meant she was about to argue back, Caitlyn sat back in her seat and crossed her arms again, giving a little shrug.
