Summary
Ponyboy was innocent in a way that was different from anyone on their side of town. Maybe that was why Johnny was pulled into his orbit full of random individuals that the boy himself didn’t actually realize existed. It included everyone and anyone that even slightly saw that he was different in a way that they wanted to understand - to take, in Curly Shepard's case - for themselves.
Johnny thought he might be someone who could get close to understanding, close enough to reach out and take a hold of it in his hands, learn why he got to be so different even when dealt a rather lacking set of cards to forge his life out of.

Bruce Wayne is eighteen when he watches a little boy wearing too much glitter see his parents fall to their death.
They figure things out together, no matter what happens. Even if Dick doesn’t know English, Bruce can’t talk to children (like, at all), and Alfred needs to learn how to cook like something other than an old British man; they’re going to get through this in one piece.
