Power, in Hell, is much like finding a decomposing animal in a schoolyard. Everyone wants to get close, but barely anybody wants to touch it—and those who will most enjoy picking it up are in fact the very least qualified to do so. Dagon might as well be carrion for all the luck he’s had lately.

Summary
He can’t fend them off forever, of course. He spots an opening and makes a break for it, but a demon with the acid-yellow eyes of a screech owl tackles him to the ground, and a rough-scaled hand grabs his jacket by the scruff as he falls, ripping the collar. They pin him down, tear away his treasured clothing with blades and claws and vengeful, acquisitive hands, and by the time they wrestle him onto his front his knuckles are sore and bruised and his wings are twitching and broken and he is under no illusion about what they intend to do.
